Growing up on the family farm in Hugo MN, I've always had a passion for growing things and working in the great outdoors. You could find me with a shovel in my hands. I can remember, as a boy, I had a hobby of digging holes in the backyard (much to my parent's chagrin). As I got older, my interests combined and I found myself drawn to the landscape industry. After a few years of hands-on experience, I came to love the satisfaction of building things and spaces for people to enjoy with my own hands. While earning my degree in landscape design and Horticulture, I was able to harness the creativity of the free-spirited farm boy and put it to use designing landscapes. I had several mentors in those formative years who helped me establish my own identity as a landscape designer. Using the knowledge I'd gained and my background in sustainable agriculture, I was able to diversify my designs to incorporate sustainable landscape ideas and practices. I started D'Terra with the goal of providing the best quality service to our clients while incorporating environmental stewardship into our business practices.
